Disease: A viral brain infection spread by mosquitoes in rural parts of Asia.

Symptoms: Mild (fever and headache) to severe (neck stiffness, coma, seizures).

Vaccine: Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine (Inactivated virus)

Dose Schedule:

  • Primary series: Two doses given intramuscularly, 28 days apart.
  • Booster: A third dose (booster) may be given after 1 year if continued risk of exposure.

Side Effects: Pain at injection site, headache, muscle pain.

Risks if Contracted: Severe neurological complications, high mortality rate in severe cases.
