In a nutshell, it’s a way to get NHS advice and treatment for seven common conditions directly from a participating pharmacy. This means you can get the help you need, often much quicker than waiting for a GP appointment.
What Conditions Can Galleywood Pharmacy Help With?
At Galleywood Pharmacy, we can provide advice and treatment for the following conditions under the NHS Pharmacy First Service:
- Sinusitis (Adults and Children aged 12 years and over): If you’re suffering from a stuffy nose, facial pain, and a headache, we can assess your symptoms and provide appropriate treatment.
- Sore Throat (Adults and Children aged 5 years and over): That scratchy, painful throat can be miserable. We can help determine if it’s a viral infection or something more serious and provide relief.
- Earache (Children aged 1 to 17 years): Earaches can be particularly distressing for children. Our pharmacists can assess the ear and provide advice and, if appropriate, treatment.
- Infected Insect Bites (1 year and over): If an insect bite becomes red, swollen, and painful, we can help assess the infection and provide treatment to prevent it from worsening.
- Impetigo (1 year and over): This contagious skin infection can cause red sores and blisters. We can assess the condition and provide appropriate treatment.
- Shingles (Adults aged 18 years and over): Shingles can be very painful. We can provide antiviral medication if you are eligible and within the correct timeframe.
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) in women (Women aged 16 to 64 years): If you’re experiencing burning when you urinate, frequent urges to go, and pain in your lower abdomen, we can help.
